Radisson Hotel Group has announced a major expansion strategy for India, aiming to operate 500 hotels and employ 50,000 people in the country by 2030.

The plan was outlined by Elie Younes, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Development Officer, in a recent interview, highlighting India’s growing importance in the group’s global portfolio.

Radisson Hotel Group Current Footprint and Growth Targets

Radisson currently operates over 200 hotels in India. The group plans to increase this number to 250–260 by 2026, and eventually reach 500 properties by 2030.

This would more than double its presence in the country, making India one of its largest markets globally.

The expansion will be supported by a significant increase in workforce.

Radisson aims to grow its employee base from 17,000 to 50,000 over the next five years.

This move reflects the company’s confidence in India’s hospitality sector and its long-term commitment to the region.

Focus on Emerging Markets and Infrastructure

Elie emphasized that Radisson’s growth will be driven by tier-II to tier-IV cities, as well as airport locations, which are increasingly becoming hubs for business and leisure travel.

The company sees strong potential in underserved markets and plans to tailor its offerings to meet local demand.

In addition to hotel development, Radisson is advocating for policy reforms to support tourism growth.

Elie suggested that simplifying visa regulations and enhancing airline infrastructure could significantly boost foreign tourist arrivals.

These improvements, he noted, would complement Radisson’s expansion and help position India as a more accessible destination for global travelers.

Strategic Importance of India

India is already one of Radisson’s top-performing markets in terms of growth and occupancy.

The company’s expansion strategy aligns with broader trends in the hospitality industry, where global brands are increasingly investing in localisation and workforce development.

Radisson’s India operations are managed through a strong network of regional partners and franchisees.

The group plans to continue this model while strengthening its brand presence across multiple segments, including luxury, mid-scale, and budget accommodations.

Radisson Hotel Group Workforce Development and Local Impact

Tripling the workforce to 50,000 will require significant investment in training, recruitment, and career development.

Radisson will collaborate with local institutions and hospitality schools to build a talent pipeline that supports its growth.

This expansion is also likely to contribute to regional employment, especially in smaller cities where hospitality jobs can have a meaningful economic impact.

By focusing on inclusive growth, Radisson aims to build a workforce that reflects India’s diversity and service excellence.
