US-based software delivery platform Harness has announced plans to more than double its Indian workforce.

The company, founded by serial entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal, aims to scale its headcount in the country to over 1,000 employees within the next three years.

This expansion is fueled by a recent $240 million Series E funding round led by Goldman Sachs, which catapulted the company’s valuation to $5.5 billion.

Harness to Scale India R&D and AI Operations

Harness, known for its AI-driven DevOps platform, currently employs approximately 480 people in India.

The proposed expansion represents a 100% increase in staff, following a year where the company already saw a 75% year-over-year jump in its local employee base.

The hiring spree will primarily focus on the company’s Research and Development (R&D) Center in Bengaluru. While engineering remains the core focus, the recruitment drive will span several key functions:

  • Engineering & AI: Senior engineering, Generative AI, and platform intelligence teams.
  • Product & Design: Product management and UX design.
  • Go-to-Market (GTM): Sales, marketing, and customer success.
  • Operations: Finance, HR, and business systems.

Building an AI-First Ecosystem

CEO Jyoti Bansal highlighted that India is no longer just a back-office support center but a strategic hub for innovation.

The India-based teams are tasked with solving what Jyoti calls the “after the code” complexity—the myriad of challenges in testing, security, and deployment that arise after a developer finished writing code.

“By expanding our senior engineering and generative AI teams, we’re building a high-performance AI engineering ecosystem in India with the scale needed to accelerate our most advanced product capabilities,” said Jyoti.

Harness Strategic Growth and Talent Pipelines

To reach the 1,000-employee milestone, Harness is implementing a multi-pronged recruitment strategy:

  1. Campus Recruitment: Deepening ties with premier institutions like the IITs and BITS Pilani.
  2. Internship Programs: Leveraging a robust internship-to-hire pipeline, which currently boasts an 80% conversion rate.
  3. Community Engagement: Hosting technical events and university partnerships to foster the next generation of DevOps talent.

This expansion comes at a time when Harness is rapidly evolving its platform. In 2025, the company launched Harness AI, an end-to-end “AI DevSecOps” platform.

This follows the strategic merger with Traceable (March 2025) and the acquisition of Qwiet AI (October 2025), further consolidating its position in the market.

Financial Performance and Market Outlook

Harness is currently on a high-growth trajectory, projected to surpass $250 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in 2025, representing a 50% year-over-year growth.

The company’s platform is used by major enterprises to automate software delivery, reportedly helping customers reduce infrastructure costs by up to 60% and accelerate deployments by 75%.

With the new influx of capital and a massive talent pool in Bengaluru, Harness positions itself to lead the “AI era” of software delivery from its Indian headquarters.
