Capgemini India Workforce Hits 2.3 Lakh; Over 50% of Global Staff

French IT services giant Capgemini has confirmed that its India workforce has surged to 2.3 lakh employees.
This massive headcount now represents nearly 55% of the company’s total global workforce of 4.2 lakh, cementing India’s position as the primary engine for its global operations and innovation.
The “India Powerhouse” Strategy
The rapid scaling in India is the result of both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
A key driver was the $3.3 billion acquisition of WNS in late 2025, which added over 44,000 India-based professionals to Capgemini’s ranks.
This consolidation makes Capgemini the second-largest multinational employer in India’s IT space, trailing only Accenture.
Under the leadership of former CEO Ashwin Yardi and current global executives, the firm has more than doubled its India presence over the last eight years.
Beyond Cost Arbitrage: The AI Frontier
Industry analysts, including HfS Research, note that Capgemini’s heavy concentration in India signals a shift from simple cost-saving to high-value digital transformation.
India is now the hub for Capgemini’s “rAise” Generative AI platform and its “Intelligent Operations” suite.
The company is investing €2 billion globally in AI over three years, with a significant portion allocated to upskilling its Indian talent.
In 2025 alone, the firm aimed to hire 45,000 professionals with a specific focus on “AI-ready” skills.
Capgemini Work-Life Balance, Geographic Footprint and Operational Growth
Despite the high-intensity nature of the IT sector, Capgemini India has made headlines for advocating a 47.5-hour workweek (nine hours a day, five days a week).
Leadership has publicly championed a “no-weekend-email” policy to attract and retain younger talent.
Financially, the India unit remains robust, reporting revenues of over ₹30,000 crore in the last fiscal year, reflecting a steady 4.7% growth.
While headquartered in Paris, Capgemini’s heart beats in Indian hubs like Bengaluru, Mumbai (Airoli and Vikhroli), Hyderabad, and Pune.
The Mumbai Knowledge Park alone houses 30,000 employees, illustrating the sheer scale of the company’s local infrastructure.
