TCS Engineer Found Dead at Hinjewadi Office, Police Suspect Suicide

A 24-year-old software engineer working with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was found dead inside a washroom at the company’s office in Phase 3 of Hinjewadi IT Park in Pune early Tuesday, police said. The body was found around 12:30 a.m. during a routine check by security staff.
Police identified the man as Sujal Vinod Oswal, a resident of Wanawadi. He was employed as an IT engineer with TCS and was on night shift at the time. A security guard noticed that a washroom door near the canteen was locked from the inside. After getting no response, the guard informed company officials, who then called the police.
Officers from Hinjewadi police station arrived at the scene and forced the door open. Oswal was found unconscious inside the washroom and was later declared dead.
Police Say Case Appears to Be Suicide
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Vishal Gaikwad said early findings point to suicide. “The man is believed to have used a mobile phone charging wire to hang himself,” he said.
Police said there were no signs of a struggle or outside injuries, and no evidence of a crime has been found so far. Early checks suggest Oswal may have been under mental pressure due to money losses linked to betting. Police also said he may have sent a message to his family before his death. The message is now being reviewed.
Post-Mortem Done, Case Under Review
The body was sent for a post-mortem, which has been completed. Police said a full report is being prepared to confirm the cause of death and the events before it.
An accidental death report has been filed at the Hinjewadi police station. Officers said they will record statements from family members, co-workers, and company staff in the coming days.
“At this point, there are no signs of foul play. Further steps will depend on the findings,” a police officer said.
