TCS to start Visakhapatnam Delivery Centre in Jan; 2,000 new jobs

IT major, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is likely to commence operations at its Delivery Centre in Visakhapatnam from January 2026.
Operating initially from a rented facility at Rushikonda Hill No. 3. In the first phase, the centre is expected to employ around 2,000 professionals, backed by an initial investment of ₹80 crore.
The company has already installed its signboard on the Millennium Towers building, signalling its imminent entry into operations.
Simultaneously, TCS will lay the foundation stone for its permanent campus for its business unit in the city, according to government sources, underscoring its long-term commitment to Visakhapatnam.
Boost to Visakhapatnam’s Growing IT Ecosystem
The arrival of TCS marks the second major development in Visakhapatnam’s expanding information technology ecosystem, following the recent commencement of operations by Cognizant from a temporary facility earlier this month.
With leading IT players such as Infosys, Cognizant and TCS establishing a presence, industry stakeholders believe the city is fast emerging as a strong alternative IT destination on India’s east coast.
O. Naresh Kumar of the Rushikonda IT Parks Association said that the combined presence of these global technology firms could play a pivotal role in transforming Visakhapatnam into a preferred destination for multinational companies as well as young professionals seeking quality career opportunities outside traditional metros.
Government Support and Long-Term Investment Plans
To facilitate the project, Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 2,08,280 square feet of office space to TCS in Millennium Towers A and B at Rushikonda Hill No. 3. The space has been leased at a concessional rate of ₹29 per square foot per month, amounting to around ₹60.4 lakh in monthly rent, sources said.
A senior government official revealed that the project had earlier faced delays due to the need to denotify the allotted land from the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ). With the denotification now complete—following the required approval from the Centre—the path has been cleared for TCS to proceed with its permanent campus.
The Industries and Commerce Department had first proposed the TCS Delivery Centre on January 3, 2025, directing the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to allot office space under the customised incentive provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Policy 2024–29.
Subsequently, on April 21, 2025, the government allotted 21.16 acres at IT Hill No. 3 to TCS at a nominal cost of ₹0.99 per acre.
The company plans to invest ₹1,370 crore in its permanent campus, a project expected to generate employment for nearly 12,000 people and significantly strengthen the region’s IT landscape.
