The SBI Youth for India Fellowship 2026–27 has opened applications, inviting young graduates to take part in a 13-month program focused on rural development and social impact.

This initiative gives participants a chance to work closely with rural communities across India in partnership with well-known non-governmental organizations.

About Fellowship 2026–27

The fellowship is designed to build socially aware leaders by giving them direct exposure to real issues at the village level. Fellows work in areas such as education, healthcare, livelihoods, and environmental sustainability.

During the program, participants stay in rural areas and engage with local communities. This helps them understand daily challenges and work together with villagers to create practical and lasting solutions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or be set to complete it by October 2026
  • Applicants should be between 21 and 32 years old
  • Open to citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan, as well as OCI and NRI candidates
  • Open to all academic backgrounds
  • No prior experience in rural development is required

Allowances and Benefits

Selected fellows will receive a monthly living allowance to cover basic expenses during their stay in rural areas, and an additional readjustment allowance.

  • INR 16,000 per month for living expenses
  • INR 2,000 per month for transport and INR 2,000 per month for project costs
  • INR 1,000 per month for learning and skill development
  • Language support is provided at the project location
  • Readjustment allowance of INR 1,10,000 after successful completion
  • Travel costs covered, including train fare and training-related travel; air travel support for Nepal, Bhutan, and OCI candidates
  • Health and personal accident insurance included

The selection process includes several stages. It begins with an online application and assessment, followed by personal interviews. The process is designed to assess the applicant’s interest, commitment, and ability to adapt to rural settings.

Along with fieldwork, the fellowship offers learning sessions, guidance from mentors, and support for both personal and career growth.
