IT giant Infosys has officially launched a comprehensive apprenticeship programme in collaboration with Alva’s College, Moodbidri.

This partnership, established under the aegis of the Alva’s Education Foundation (AEF), aims to provide students with a unique blend of academic learning and hands-on corporate experience, ensuring they are industry-ready upon graduation.

Strengthening the Industry-Academia Linkage

The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the leadership of Alva’s Education Foundation and senior executives from Infosys.

The primary objective of this initiative is to address the growing “skill gap” in the Indian technology and corporate sector.

By integrating professional training into the collegiate framework, the programme allows students to transition smoothly from a classroom environment to a professional workspace.

During the launch event, representatives from Infosys highlighted that the apprenticeship is designed not just to teach technical skills, but to instill professional ethics, corporate communication standards, and problem-solving methodologies.

For Alva’s College, a premier institution in coastal Karnataka known for its diverse student body, this partnership represents a major milestone in providing global opportunities to students from semi-urban and rural backgrounds.

Integration with Infosys Springboard

A central component of this apprenticeship programme is the utilization of ‘Infosys Springboard’—the company’s flagship digital literacy and life-skills platform.

The apprentices will have access to a vast library of curated content.

This curriculum covers emerging technologies such as AI, ML, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics.

The curriculum is structured to complement the students’ regular degree courses.

Unlike traditional internships that last for a few weeks, this apprenticeship offers a more prolonged and structured engagement.

Students will be mentored by Infosys professionals, participate in live projects, and receive certifications that carry significant weight in the global job market.

Empowering Rural Talent and Economic Growth

Dr. M. Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, expressed his optimism regarding the collaboration, noting that such initiatives are crucial for the holistic development of students.

He emphasized that students in regions like Moodbidri possess immense potential.

However, they often lack the necessary exposure to the operational standards of Fortune 500 companies.

By bringing Infosys’ expertise to the doorstep of Alva’s College, the programme democratizes access to high-quality corporate training.

This initiative will lead to higher placement rates and better salary packages for graduates.

Ultimately, these professional gains will contribute significantly to the regional economy.

Infosys-Alva’s Partnership: The Future of Work-Integrated Learning

The Infosys-Alva’s partnership aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This policy advocates for vocational integration and work-based learning in higher education.

The corporate landscape is rapidly evolving.

Consequently, “Earn while you Learn” models and apprenticeship-embedded degrees are becoming the gold standard for future-proofing careers.

Industry experts suggest that this model serves as a blueprint for other tech giants to collaborate with regional colleges.

The program creates a pipeline of pre-trained talent for Infosys.

These candidates understand the company’s culture and technical requirements even before they are formally hired.

For the students of Alva’s College, this initiative is a major professional gateway.

They now have a clear route to joining one of the world’s premier digital services and consulting organizations.
