Wipro Pivots to “Services as Software” with New Business Unit

In a major strategic realignment effective April 1, 2026, Wipro Limited has announced the launch of a dedicated AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit.
The move signals a fundamental shift for the Indian IT giant as it embraces a “services as software” model, aiming to drive non-linear growth by integrating agentic AI solutions directly into its core service offerings.
A New Engine for Intelligent Transformation
The new unit is designed to complement Wipro’s existing services by developing enterprise-grade AI solutions and incubating new business streams.
By adopting an “invest-build-partner” approach, Wipro plans to accelerate the creation of outcome-based value for its global clientele.
The unit will consolidate and scale Wipro’s high-performing platform assets, including:
- NetOxygen: AI-powered lending solutions.
- CROAMIS: Integrated aviation cargo operations.
- IHS & HPS: Specialized healthcare platforms.
- Delivery Platforms: Utilizing the WINGS and WEGA frameworks to speed up client value realization.
CEO Srini Pallia emphasized that this pivot sharpens Wipro’s ability to deliver tangible business outcomes by deepening capabilities across data, workflows, and decision engines.

Wipro Leadership Shake-up and Strategic Hires
To lead this ambitious venture, Wipro has appointed Nagendra Bandaru as the CEO of the AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit.
A 30-year Wipro veteran, Nagendra previously served as President of the Technology Services GBL.
His deep expertise in scaling innovative platforms makes him a natural fit for this role, where he will continue reporting to Srini.
Filling the vacancy left by Bandaru, Kanwar Singh joins Wipro as the new President and Managing Partner of Technology Services GBL.
Kanwar brings over 30 years of experience in managing complex global initiatives across the retail, manufacturing, and transportation sectors.
Wipro expects his appointment to the Executive Leadership team to strengthen the company’s global delivery management and digital intervention strategies.
The Road Ahead: Scalable, Non-Linear Growth
This restructuring is more than a departmental change; it is a bid to remain competitive in a landscape where traditional labor-intensive IT services are being disrupted by automation.
Wipro aims to build a solid foundation for sustained innovation by deploying dedicated engineering teams to support these AI-native businesses.
This strategy ensures the company thrives in the era of intelligent transformation.
