Inside the New Office Mandates at TCS, Infosys, and Wipro

Top-tier IT services firms, including TCS, Infosys, and Wipro, have initiated a firm but quiet transition toward “office-first” hybrid models.
This shift marks a significant departure from the fully remote flexibility seen during the pandemic, as leadership prioritizes face-to-face collaboration and organizational culture.
TCS, Wipro and Infosys Work Model: The Three-Day Mandate
Most major IT companies have now standardized a minimum requirement of three days per week in the office.
While Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) led the charge by mandating a full five-day work week for most employees, others like Infosys and HCLTech are utilizing a more flexible 3-day hybrid approach.
Companies are no longer just “encouraging” attendance; many have begun linking office presence to performance appraisals, variable pay, and promotion eligibility.
TCS, Wipro and Infosys: Productivity and Innovation Drivers
Industry leaders argue that while individual coding tasks can be done remotely, high-level innovation, mentorship, and “social capital” are suffering.
Reports suggest that junior employees, hired during the pandemic, are missing out on essential on-the-job learning that occurs through peer observation.
Furthermore, data security concerns and the need for secure, high-speed infrastructure for AI-driven projects are pulling workers back to physical hubs.
The Rise of Satellite Offices
To mitigate employee resistance—primarily due to Bengaluru’s and Pune’s notorious traffic—IT firms are adopting a “hub-and-spoke” model.
Instead of forcing everyone into a single massive campus, firms are opening smaller satellite offices in Tier-II cities like Coimbatore, Jaipur, and Chandigarh.
This allows employees to work closer to home while maintaining the “office environment” the industry now demands.
Real Estate and Economic Ripple Effects
This return-to-office (RTO) trend is revitalizing the commercial real estate sector. Demand for Grade-A office spaces reached record highs in late 2025.
Additionally, the local economies surrounding IT parks—including transport services, food courts, and PG accommodations—are seeing a massive resurgence in revenue as footfall returns to pre-pandemic levels.
