Birlasoft Appoints Arun Rao as CHRO Amid Leadership Reshuffle

Birlasoft has appointed Arun Rao as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective April 1, 2026, as part of a broader leadership reshuffle. He succeeds Priti Kataria.

In a parallel move, the company has named Vikram Puranik as Chief Operating Officer (COO), replacing Selvakumaran Mannappan, effective April 1, 2026.

With nearly four decades of experience in human resources, in his new role, Arun is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Birlasoft’s future workforce strategy, with a strong focus on talent development, culture transformation, and leadership building.

Extensive Experience

A seasoned HR leader, Arun is no stranger to the organization. He previously served as Chief People Officer at Birlasoft from April 2020 to February 2025, where he led several key initiatives around workforce modernization and employee experience.

Most recently, he was associated with the CKA Birla Group as Group Head – Leadership Development, driving leadership capability and succession planning across the group.

Over his extensive career, Arun has held senior HR leadership roles at global organizations, including DXC Technology and CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation), where he led large-scale HR transformations.

He has also worked with Deloitte Consulting India Pvt Ltd, AppLabs, and Intelligroup Asia Pvt Ltd. Arun began his career with Steel Authority of India Limited, laying a strong foundation in HR practices.
