DRDO Opens Applications for JRF, SRF, RA and Internship Roles

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has invited applications for research, technical, and internship roles across its labs in India.

These jobs are open in many DRDO centers in cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Kanpur, Tezpur, and Visakhapatnam. Candidates with degrees in engineering, science, or technology can apply through the official DRDO vacancies portal.

Positions Available

DRDO labs are hiring for research and training roles such as:

  • Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
  • Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
  • Research Associate (RA)
  • Apprentices and student internships
  • Technical and office roles under different DRDO notices

Some labs will hold walk-in interviews. Others accept online or email applications based on their notice.

Eligibility and Salary

These fellowship roles require strong academic records in science or engineering.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

  • Postgraduate degree in science with NET, or BE/BTech with NET or GATE
  • Stipend about ₹31,000 per month plus HRA

Senior Research Fellow (SRF)

  • BE/BTech or MSc with work experience, or MTech
  • Stipend about ₹35,000 per month plus HRA

Research Associate (RA)

  • PhD in a related subject with research experience
  • Stipend about ₹47,000 per month plus HRA

Labs Hiring Candidates

Several DRDO labs have released job notices, including:

  • Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru – research fellow posts
  • Defence Materials and Stores Research & Development Establishment, Kanpur – Research Associate roles
  • Defence Scientific Information & Documentation Centre, Delhi – Junior Research Fellow roles
  • Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur – JRF and RA walk-in interviews
  • Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam – internships for engineering and science students

Application Process

Candidates should check the notices for each lab on the DRDO vacancies portal. These notices list the eligibility rules, how to apply, interview dates, and last dates. Some roles need a walk-in interview, while others ask for email or offline forms.

DRDO is one of India’s main defense research groups. It runs many labs that work on aerospace systems, electronics, materials, naval systems, and other defense technologies. These openings give young researchers and engineers a chance to work on national defense research projects.
