Citizens Financial Group, the parent company of Citizens Bank, has announced plans to hire 1,000 human resources professionals at its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad by April 2026.

The move is part of the bank’s broader strategy to strengthen its global operations and tap into India’s deep talent pool for technology and enterprise services.

Strategic Expansion into India

The Hyderabad GCC, launched in partnership with Cognizant, marks Citizens Bank’s first offshore centre in India.

The facility is located within Cognizant’s new campus and is designed to serve as a next-generation innovation hub.

It will support the bank’s enterprise technology, data analytics, customer experience platforms, and product development initiatives.

Michael Ruttledge, Chief Information Officer and Head of Technology Services at Citizens Financial Group, emphasized the importance of global talent in accelerating the bank’s digital transformation.

“The move is driven by an urgent need for speed and talent that local markets alone cannot satisfy. We want a truly global workforce that enables 24/7 development,” he said during a recent visit to the Hyderabad centre.

Citizens Bank Hiring Focus and Timeline

The bank aims to complete the hiring of 1,000 HR and technology professionals by April 2026.

These roles will span across talent acquisition, learning and development, HR operations, and digital HR transformation.

The hiring plan reflects the bank’s commitment to building a robust support system for its global workforce and enhancing internal capabilities.

The Hyderabad GCC is expected to play a central role in delivering new capabilities, including a mobile-first HR platform and AI-driven employee engagement tools.

The centre will also support Citizens Bank’s broader digital agenda, including automation and cloud-based service delivery.

Citizens Bank Partners with Cognizant

Citizens Bank’s collaboration with Cognizant is a key enabler of this expansion.

Cognizant provides the infrastructure and operational support for the GCC, allowing Citizens to focus on core innovation and talent development.

The partnership also aligns with Cognizant’s strategy to deepen its presence in India and support global clients with scalable delivery models.

Government Support and Local Impact

Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu formally inaugurated the launch of the Hyderabad GCC in April 2025.

The minister highlighted the state’s growing reputation as a hub for global technology and financial services.

“Our growth is clearly visible across different metrics. But our aim is even higher. We want to transform Hyderabad from a GCC hub to a global innovation capital,” he said at the event.

The hiring initiative is expected to contribute significantly to local employment and skill development.

It also reinforces Hyderabad’s position as a preferred destination for global financial institutions seeking to establish offshore centres.
