Thousands of Jobs Loom With LG Electronics Mega Plant in AP

Andhra Pradesh’s industrial landscape is witnessing a massive transformation as LG Electronics accelerates the development of its ₹5,000-crore manufacturing facility.
Minister for IT, Electronics, and Communications, Nara Lokesh, recently highlighted the “speed and scale” of the project, which is set to become a global benchmark for consumer durables manufacturing and a primary engine for regional job creation.
Speed of Doing Business: From Blueprint to Reality
The project stands as a testament to the state’s “Speed of Doing Business” initiative.
Following the land handover in May 2025, the facility has progressed from a greenfield site to an advanced stage of construction in just seven months.
Spread over 247 acres in the Sri City industrial corridor, this unit will be LG Electronics’ third manufacturing plant in India, following its existing hubs in Noida and Pune.
LG Electronics Investment and Economic Impact
The South Korean giant is investing approximately $600 million (₹5,001 crore) over a four-year period.
The facility is expected to generate thousands of jobs, including roughly 1,500 direct roles and over 10,000 indirect employment opportunities through a sprawling ecosystem of vendors and logistics partners.
Notably, four of LG’s global suppliers have already committed an additional ₹839 crore to set up base in the same vicinity, further solidifying the region’s status as a “White Goods” manufacturing hub.
Commercial production is slated to begin by the end of 2026, starting with air conditioners. The plant is engineered to reach a massive annual output by 2029, including:
LG Electronics Production Capacity and Global Reach
- 1.5 million Air Conditioners
- 2 million AC Compressors
- 850,000 Washing Machines
- 800,000 Refrigerators
Beyond catering to India’s soaring domestic demand, the Sri City factory will serve as an export base for neighboring markets, including Bangladesh and the Middle East.
State-of-the-Art Infrastructure
The plant will focus on high-end, energy-efficient lines such as French-door refrigerators and front-loading washing machines.
Minister Lokesh emphasized that the project reflects the trust global investors place in the state’s policy stability and execution capability.
This development positions Andhra Pradesh as a top destination for electronics manufacturing in South Asia.
