Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) has announced an innovative online internship scheme starting from the 2025–26 academic session, designed to blend academic credits with real-world industry experience.

This initiative brings together top technology partners and offers students a robust, flexible path to career readiness.

Collaboration With Tech Industry

AKTU has formalized MoUs with renowned tech companies, including IBM, SmartBridge, NIELIT, Infosys, Nemi, and Softpro, ensuring students have access to both paid and unpaid online internship opportunities.

These collaborations enable participants to engage in industry-aligned mini-projects and acquire skills essential for the professional world.

Structure and Credit System

  • Eligible for engineering students in third, fifth, and seventh semesters
  • Each student must complete at least 60 hours of internship work, earning two academic credits (one credit per 30 hours) according to the National Credit Framework.
  • The internship consists of 20 hours of hands-on training, 20 hours of self-paced learning, and 20 hours dedicated to completing a capstone project.
  • All activities are delivered 100% online, making participation possible alongside regular classes.

Evaluation and Certification

The evaluation process is jointly managed by AKTU faculty and industry partners, ensuring comprehensive feedback on students’ progress.

Upon completion, students are awarded certificates from the respective tech companies, recognizing their internship contributions and skill development.

Benefits for Students

Vice-Chancellor Prof JP Pandey emphasizes that virtual internships save time and resources and eliminate logistical barriers.

Students gain practical experience, enhance their resumes, and build technical and professional skills, all while continuing their normal academic schedule.

This strategic initiative marks a major step toward making experiential, project-based learning a core element of AKTU’s technical education model.
