IIT KHARAGPUR Summer Internship 2026, Stipend 22,000/month

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has started applications for its undergraduate summer research programme, GRISHMA, Summer Internship 2026.

This program gives students from across India a chance to work on research projects with guidance from experienced faculty.

Programme Overview

GRISHMA is an eight-week summer internship program for undergraduate students. It is designed to help students understand how research works in real academic settings.

Participants will join faculty-led research groups in areas like science, engineering, technology, medicine, and humanities.

The program will run from May 16 to July 10, 2026. Around 180 to 200 students from different colleges across India will be selected, except those from IIT Kharagpur.

Students will learn how to define research problems, carry out studies, and present their work.

Eligibility and Selection Process

The program is open to undergraduate students, usually in their third year or higher. Applicants should have strong academic records and a clear interest in research.

Selection will be based on academic performance, statement of purpose, and recommendations. Shortlisted students will then be matched with faculty mentors and suitable projects.

Research Structure and Learning Experience

Each selected student will work on a research project under the guidance of faculty members, along with support from research scholars. Projects can be experimental, computational, design-based, or focused on the humanities.

The program also includes seminars and workshops to build skills like critical thinking and academic writing. This setup helps students understand how research is done in real life.

Fellowship and Key Dates

Selected students will receive up to ₹22,000 per month. This amount will cover stay, food, travel, and other basic expenses.
