DGT and Autodesk Partner to Digitally Upskill Vocational Trainers

Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Autodesk, a global leader in design and make technology.
The partnership was formalized on November 6, 2025, in the presence of senior officials from MSDE and Autodesk, including Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, and Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk.
DGT and Autodesk: Scope and Reach of the Collaboration
The initiative will benefit over 14,500 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 33 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) across India.
It is designed to equip faculty and trainers with advanced digital design and manufacturing skills, enabling them to deliver industry-relevant training to students.
The collaboration will span three years and focus on building an AI-ready and digitally proficient workforce.
Autodesk will work closely with DGT to develop and deliver customized training modules, curriculum enhancements, and learning activities.
These will be aligned with emerging industry demands in sectors such as architecture, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.
Objectives and Strategic Importance
The primary goal of the partnership is to bridge the gap between vocational education and industry expectations.
By integrating Autodesk’s cutting-edge technologies into the training ecosystem, the initiative aims to:
- Strengthen the digital capabilities of trainers and educators
- Enhance student employability through exposure to real-world tools
- Prepare India’s workforce for future-ready roles in design and manufacturing
Debashree Mukherjee emphasized the importance of aligning vocational training with global standards.
“This partnership with Autodesk will greatly enhance the capabilities of trainers by integrating advanced design technologies into vocational education,” she said during the MoU exchange.
Implementation and Curriculum Development
The collaboration will involve the joint development of educational programs that incorporate Autodesk’s software and platforms.
Trainers will receive hands-on experience with tools used in professional environments, ensuring that students are trained on technologies that are directly applicable to their future jobs.
Autodesk’s team will also assist in curriculum modernization, helping DGT update existing modules to reflect current industry practices.
This includes the integration of AI-driven design tools, digital prototyping, and simulation technologies.
