Mars India Appoints Manish Syag as MD of Pet Nutrition Division

Mars, Incorporated has announced the appointment of Manish Syag as the new Managing Director for its Pet Nutrition business in India.

Manish takes over from Salil Murthy. Murthy has been elevated to the role of Global Vice President, Enterprise Transformation for Mars Pet Nutrition, based in London.

Manish will lead a portfolio featuring top-tier brands like PEDIGREE®, WHISKAS®, and SHEBA®.

He aims to drive the “India Growth Agenda,” expanding market presence in what is quickly becoming a USD 2 billion pet food category.

Francisco Fernandez, Regional President for Rapid Growth Markets, stated that this appointment underscores Mars’ commitment to developing internal talent and strengthening India’s role in their global strategy.

Manish Syag Professional Journey and Educational Qualifications

Manish Syag brings over two decades of experience in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector to his new role.

He is an alumnus of IIM Lucknow.

Manish previously held senior sales leadership positions at industry giants including Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and GSK Consumer Healthcare.

He joined Mars in 2024 as the Chief Sales Officer, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the growth trajectory of the company’s pet nutrition business.

Regarded as a strong people leader, Manish has a proven ability to scale businesses and build high-performing teams.

In his capacity as MD, he will focus on building world-class operational capabilities and deepening the brand’s market penetration across India.
