TCS Staff Suspended After FIRs Reveal Allegations of Harassment

IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has officially suspended several employees at its Nashik facility following a series of grave allegations involving sexual harassment, workplace misconduct, and forced religious conversion.
The move comes as the company faces one of its most significant internal crises, with nine FIRs registered and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) now leading a criminal probe.
Escalating Legal Action and Arrests
The controversy erupted in late March 2026 when a female employee filed a complaint at the Deolali police station, accusing a senior colleague of rape.
This initial report triggered a wave of further disclosures. Eight more employees came forward to report a multi-year pattern of abuse spanning from 2022 to 2026.
As of April 12, 2026, Nashik Police have arrested seven individuals, including six senior employees holding team lead positions.
Notably, the firm’s female HR manager was also taken into custody.
She is accused of failing to act on internal complaints and allegedly advising victims to “stay cool” rather than initiating formal disciplinary procedures.

The “Zero-Tolerance” Stance
In a formal statement released on Sunday, TCS reaffirmed its commitment to workplace safety.
“TCS has a long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form,” a spokesperson stated.
The company confirmed that all individuals under investigation have been suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry.
The allegations include sensitive claims of “hurt religious sentiments” and forced conversion.
These reports prompted Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to label the situation “extremely serious.”
The SIT is currently examining whether the firm’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) followed statutory guidelines under the POSH Act.
TCS Restoring Workplace Trust
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Indian IT sector, raising questions about the efficacy of internal reporting mechanisms in satellite offices.
TCS has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement.
Further actions, including potential terminations, will be dictated by the final findings of the SIT and the company’s internal audit.
