Karnataka Hosts Bengaluru Skill Summit: Focus on Workforce 2030

The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood, Government of Karnataka, is set to host the inaugural edition of the Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025 from 4th to 6th November at The Lalit Ashok, Bengaluru.

The summit is organized by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) in collaboration with the Karnataka Skill Development Authority (KSDA).

It is supported by the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) as Knowledge Partner and Germany as the Country Partner.

The summit aims to position Karnataka as a global hub for workforce innovation and skilling excellence.

It will focus on enhancing global employability through overseas partnerships, language training, and certification systems.

High-Level Inauguration and Global Participation

The summit will be inaugurated on 4th November by Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, in the presence of Shri D. K. Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, and Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood and Medical Education.

Special invitees include The Hon. Muhammad Reza Cassam Uteem, Minister of Labour and Industrial Relations, Republic of Mauritius; His Excellency Dr. Philipp Ackermann, Ambassador of Germany to India; and Mr. Ashutosh Gupta, Managing Director – India and Asia Pacific, Coursera.

Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025: Theme and Scope

The theme for this year’s summit is “Workforce 2030: Scale, Systems, Synergy.”

It emphasizes expanding skilling opportunities at scale, strengthening systems for quality and relevance, and building synergies among stakeholders.

The event will host over 3,000 attendees, including policymakers, corporate leaders, academic experts, and innovators.

More than 100 speakers and 50 exhibitors and partners will participate.

Notable Speakers and Sessions

Prominent speakers include Mr. Subroto Bagchi, Co-Founder of Mindtree; Mr. Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman of the Global Energy Alliance; Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, IAS; Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog; Mr. Naveen Narayanan, Global Head HR at Biocon Biologics; Ms. Saraswathi Ramachandra, Managing Director at Lightcast.io; Gi Soon Song from the Asian Development Bank; and Mish Eastman from RMIT University, Australia.

A key highlight is the ministerial panel on 5th November titled “Convergence of Education, Skills & Industry for a Trillion USD Economy by 2032.”

The session will feature senior ministers from the Government of Karnataka, including Dr. Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil, M. B. Patil, Priyank Kharge, and Dr. M. C. Sudhakar.

Madan Padaki, Managing Trustee of Head Held High Foundation, will moderate the panel.

Industry Participation and Sectoral Focus

The summit invites participation from a wide range of industries, including Aerospace & Defence, AgriTech, Automotive, Real Estate, Banking & Finance, Education, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Media, Retail, Software, Telecommunications, and Hospitality.

It aims to foster collaboration across sectors to build a future-ready workforce.

Delegates will engage in policy dialogues, live showcases, and networking opportunities with government and industry leaders.

The summit will also provide career and partnership avenues for attendees.

Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025: Key Highlights and Youth Engagement

The event will feature several flagship initiatives:

  • Skillathon 2025: A national-level innovation challenge for college students to reimagine India’s skilling ecosystem
  • Kaushalya Karnataka Awards: Recognizing excellence in corporate and institutional skilling practices
  • Skill Expo Pavilion: Showcasing cutting-edge training technologies and EdTech solutions
  • Karnataka Vaibhava: A cultural performance celebrating the state’s heritage and traditions

Additional programming includes masterclasses, deep-dive sessions, policy roundtables, and a Youth Zone connecting students and young professionals with career opportunities.

The summit will explore four key areas to strengthen Karnataka’s skilling ecosystem.

These include fresh ideas in skilling, inclusive approaches for women and gig workers, global readiness for international jobs, and preparation for AI, green jobs, and digital transformation.

Bengaluru Skill Summit 2025: Leadership Commentary

Dr. Sharanaprakash Rudrappa Patil stated, “Bengaluru Skill Summit reflects Karnataka’s determination to lead India into the next era of workforce development. Our priority is to build a skilling framework that is inclusive, industry-aligned, and globally benchmarked — empowering young people to shape the future economy as skilled professionals, innovators, or entrepreneurs.”

Dr. Gayathri Vasudevan, Chairperson of LabourNet Services and Trustee of Sambhav Foundation, added, “The intent of the Bengaluru Skill Summit is to bring together innovations in technology and people development to explore how skill-building can truly translate into employability and meaningful employment for young people.”
