Ashok Leyland Pairs Jobs with Massive Skill Drive in Lucknow


Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art integrated commercial vehicle plant in Lucknow on January 9, 2026.
Spread across 70 acres in the Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area, the facility is designed to serve as a global hub for green mobility, focusing primarily on the production of electric buses and alternative-fuel vehicles.
Ashok Leyland Direct Job Creation and Economic Impact
The plant is set to become a cornerstone of regional employment, providing 1,000 direct jobs for the youth of Uttar Pradesh.
Beyond direct hiring, the project will generate livelihood opportunities for over 2,000 additional individuals.
These roles will emerge through a growing ecosystem of ancillary industries, logistics, and MSME service units.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the facility alongside Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
During the event, he highlighted that the plant fulfills a key commitment to transform the state into an automobile manufacturing powerhouse.
Focus on Green Mobility and Sustainability
Representing an investment of approximately ₹1,000 crore, this is Ashok Leyland’s most advanced and sustainable manufacturing site globally.
The facility features:
- Production Capacity: An initial annual capacity of 2,500 units, scalable to 5,000 units.
- Eco-friendly Infrastructure: Equipped with rooftop solar panels, zero-liquid discharge systems, and battery-operated internal logistics.
- Diverse Workforce: The plant maintains a strong focus on diversity, featuring a significant percentage of women in its production and engineering teams.
Skill Development Initiative
To ensure a future-ready workforce, the Hinduja Group is signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uttar Pradesh government.
This agreement will provide specialized skill development training to 10,000 youth annually.
This initiative aims to equip local talent with technical expertise in electric vehicle technologies, automated machinery operations, and advanced automobile engineering.
These efforts will help bridge the gap between traditional manufacturing and Industry 4.0 standards.
The establishment of this plant marks a milestone in Ashok Leyland’s roadmap to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2048.
Simultaneously, the facility supports Uttar Pradesh’s goal of becoming a trillion-dollar economy through strategic industrial investments.
