The Standard, a prominent U.S.-based provider of insurance, retirement, and investment services, has officially inaugurated its permanent Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru’s Embassy Tech Village.
This launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s long-term digital transformation strategy, following the establishment of its local operations in late 2025.
The Standard Driving Innovation and Ownership
The new facility was formally inaugurated by Shri Priyank Kharge, Karnataka’s Minister for Electronics, IT, and Biotechnology.
Unlike traditional outsourcing models, The Standard’s Bengaluru hub is designed for “capability arbitrage,” focusing on high-end engineering, design, and strategic ownership.
The center will serve as a core incubator for advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineering, cloud platform development, and data analytics.
Dan McMillan, President and CEO of The Standard, emphasized that the GCC is integral to the company’s global goals.
“It’s about innovation, ownership, and outcomes,” McMillan stated, noting that the India-based teams will work in tandem with U.S. counterparts to design customer-facing technology and accelerate digital solutions.

Strategic Growth and Leadership
The Standard India currently employs approximately 200 professionals, a number bolstered by the firm’s $2 billion acquisition of Allstate’s Employer Voluntary Benefits business.
Under the leadership of Mohua Sengupta, SVP and Country Head, the firm is implementing a “two-in-a-box” leadership model.
This strategy ensures a corresponding leader in Bengaluru for every key technology leader in the U.S. This “two-in-a-box” model fosters seamless global collaboration.
Long-Term Investment in India’s Talent
The choice of Bengaluru reflects the city’s mature tech ecosystem and deep talent pool.
Greg Chandler, Executive Vice President of Information Technology, highlighted that the center represents a long-term investment in world-class talent.
As the firm continues its “AI-first” pivot, the Bengaluru office will play a central role in scaling enterprise platforms.
This hub will also improve operational efficiency across the organization’s global footprint.
