French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has announced a massive investment of ₹3,500 crore (€350 million) to establish its first-of-its-kind, AI-powered Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad.

The announcement was made on January 21, 2026, following a high-level meeting at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos between L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus and a Telangana delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The “Beauty-Tech” Revolution

This facility will be the world’s first GCC dedicated specifically to the “beauty-tech” niche.

Rather than functioning as a back-office, the hub is designed to be L’Oréal’s global digital backbone.

It will focus on:

  • Next-Gen AI: Developing “Agentic AI” and Generative AI for personalized beauty experiences.
  • Innovation at Scale: Creating tech solutions in data engineering and supply chain logistics to be exported to L’Oréal’s global facilities.
  • Strategic Hub: Integrating with L’Oréal’s existing global tech network across France, the US, and China.

Massive Employment Surge by L’Oréal

L’Oréal will deploy the investment through 2030 and create 2,000 highly skilled tech jobs.

Recruitment will focus on specialized roles, including:

  • AI and Machine Learning Specialists
  • Data Scientists and Analytics Experts
  • Advanced Technology Engineers

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy noted that this partnership aligns with the “Telangana Rising: 2047 Vision,” positioning Hyderabad as a global epicenter for digital excellence.

“This decision reflects the deep confidence global leaders place in Telangana’s innovation ecosystem,” Revanth added.

India as a Global Tech Leader

L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus emphasized that after 31 years of presence in India, the company is ready to harness the country’s world-class engineering expertise.

The Hyderabad hub will sit at the “heart” of L’Oréal’s digital ambitions, particularly as part of the 2026 India-France Year of Innovation.

L’Oréal plans to officially inaugurate the facility in November 2026.

Additionally, the Telangana government has invited L’Oréal to explore setting up a local manufacturing unit, a proposal the company has responded to positively.
