Flipkart-owned fashion e-commerce major Myntra is consolidating its satellite office operations in Gurugram into its central headquarters in Bengaluru.

This integration process, aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing cross-functional collaboration, has led to a mix of employee transfers and targeted layoffs, according to sources familiar with the development.

The Consolidation Strategy

The Gurugram office, which largely housed functions related to marketing, sourcing, and creative services, is being phased out as Myntra looks to centralize its leadership and product teams.

The decision is reportedly part of a broader “one-office” philosophy designed to reduce the friction of remote site management and speed up decision-making cycles.

By bringing these specialized teams under the Bengaluru umbrella, Myntra aims to leverage the shared infrastructure and technical expertise of the Flipkart Group’s main hub.

Impact on Myntra Workforce: Transfers and Redundancies

The transition has not been seamless for the workforce.

Sources indicate that Myntra offered several employees in the Gurugram office the option to relocate to Bengaluru.

This move would allow those workers to retain their current roles within the company.

However, not all positions were deemed redundant-proof.

For roles that overlapped with existing Bengaluru-based teams or those that could not be transitioned, the company has reportedly initiated a round of layoffs.

he exact number of impacted employees remains unconfirmed. However, insiders suggest that the exit affected approximately 50 staff members from the catalogue team.

Focus on Operational Efficiency

This move comes at a time when Indian e-commerce players face immense pressure to achieve profitability.

Consequently, these companies are working urgently to optimize their unit economics.

Myntra has been aggressively pushing its “high-tech, high-fashion” agenda.

Centralizing its workforce is seen as a way to cut down on real estate overheads and administrative costs associated with maintaining a satellite campus in the National Capital Region.

Myntra Official Stance

Myntra has not released an exhaustive list of departures. However, the company maintains that these changes are part of a routine organizational realignment.

Myntra continues to emphasize its commitment to growth as a top employer within the Bengaluru tech ecosystem.

The firm is also actively hiring for key roles in AI-led fashion and logistics technology.
