The National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has shared full details for its Digital India Internship (DII) Summer 2026 program.

This program gives students a chance to work on real government tech projects.

Practical Experience for Students

This internship is designed to help students build real skills by working on live projects. It is open to Indian students studying B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, MCA, and MSc in IT-related fields. Applicants must have at least 60% marks in their last exam.

Meeting the basic rules does not ensure selection. Students with better academic records or strong technical skills may have an advantage. The program mainly focuses on students in their pre-final year. Final-year students graduating in summer 2026 cannot apply.

Duration, Work Areas, and Selection

The internship will last at least two months and can go up to three months based on performance and project needs. Interns may be placed at the NIC headquarters in New Delhi or at state centers across India.

Students will get a chance to work in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, IoT, and Quantum Computing.

To apply, students must fill out the online form, upload academic records, and write a Statement of Purpose (100–250 words). A recommendation letter from their college is required. Selection is based on merit and may include an interview, either in person or online.

Stipend and Completion Rules

Selected interns will receive ₹10,000 per month. Payment will be made after they complete the internship and submit their final report, provided their performance is satisfactory.

Interns must follow strict rules on confidentiality and conduct. The internship does not promise a job at NIC. Any work created during the internship will belong to NIC.

At the end of the program, interns must submit a project report and give a presentation. After this, they will receive a certificate from NIC.

How to Apply

This program helps connect classroom learning with real government work. By involving students in ongoing digital projects, NIC aims to prepare a skilled workforce for the future and support new ideas in public sector technology.

Interested candidates can visit the National Informatics Centre website to get more details and submit their application.
