DRDO, DLRL Hyderabad Opens Paid Engineering Internships

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry of Defence, has invited applications for a paid internship programme at its premier lab, the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Hyderabad.
The opportunity is aimed at final-year B.E./B.Tech students for the academic year 2026–27, offering hands-on exposure to defence electronics and advanced research.
Last date for receipt of applications at DLRL is 15-05-2026.
Internship Disciplines and Vacancies
DLRL is offering a total of 75 internship positions across three engineering disciplines. These include-
- 40 seats in Electronics and Communication Engineering
- 25 in Computer Science Engineering
- 10 in Mechanical Engineering
The number of vacancies is tentative and may be adjusted depending on the availability of suitable candidates.
Duration, Stipend and Key Conditions
The internship will run for six months, tentatively beginning 1 July 2026. Selected candidates will receive a total stipend of ₹30,000, paid in two instalments—₹15,000 after three months and the remaining ₹15,000 upon successful completion of the programme.
Interns must maintain a minimum of 15 working days of attendance per month to qualify for the stipend. Expenses related to accommodation, travel, and medical needs will be borne by the candidates themselves.

Eligibility and Selection Process
Applicants must be entering their final year of B.E./B.Tech in 2026–27 and should not have any academic backlogs.
Selection will be based primarily on academic merit (CGPA/percentage up to 3rd year, 1st semester), followed by an interview or interaction if required. In case of tied scores, preference will be given to the older candidate.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email and must submit the necessary documents, including a police verification certificate and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their college.
Application Process
Interested students must apply in the prescribed format along with required documents and a referral letter from their institution. Applications should be sent to DLRL, Hyderabad, clearly mentioning the discipline on the envelope.
This internship provides a valuable opportunity for aspiring engineers to gain real-world experience in defence research, though it does not guarantee employment with DRDO.
The application form can also be downloaded from the DRDO website. Apply before May 15, 2026.
