In a significant step toward strengthening the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) at the grassroots level, the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced the launch of its SBM Internship Program.

The initiative aims to engage young professionals and students in practical, on-ground experiences in the areas of health, hygiene, and sanitation management.

The full-time internship, based in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, is open for immediate commencement and will run for a duration of two months.

Perks and Benefits

Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹8,000 per month and earn 10 academic credits upon successful completion. The program has five openings, and interested candidates can apply by November 14, 2025.

The internship is designed to give participants hands-on exposure to municipal-level operations and the execution of Swachh Bharat Mission initiatives.

Interns will work alongside health and sanitation officials, gaining insights into urban waste management, public hygiene promotion, and monitoring of community sanitation practices.

This experience aims to enhance their understanding of public health governance while nurturing a new generation of skilled sanitation professionals.

According to BMC officials, the initiative aligns with the TULIP (The Urban Learning Internship Program) framework under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

All terms of engagement, including responsibilities and assessment, will follow the TULIP Handbook and Guidelines to ensure structured learning and professional accountability.

The program is open exclusively to candidates specializing in Sanitary Inspection or Health Inspection, with relevant academic backgrounds and an interest in contributing to urban health systems.

The corporation emphasized that this internship is not just a learning opportunity but also a civic responsibility — an invitation to be part of India’s ongoing cleanliness and sustainability movement.

Interested candidates can visit AICTE Internship Portal for more information and apply.

Through SBM Internship Program, Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and field application, fostering collaboration between students and city administration to drive impactful change under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
