Cognizant Starts Visakhapatnam Campus by Dec 12| 8 to 10K Jobs

Cognizant will start work on its new IT campus in Visakhapatnam on December 12, 2025. The project, worth about ₹1,600 crore, is set to create 8,000 to 10,000 skilled jobs by 2029, with a strong focus on AI and other new digital technologies.
Once the center is up and running, Cognizant will join top global IT firms already present in Andhra Pradesh, such as Infosys and TCS. Infosys has begun operations in the city, while TCS is still preparing to begin work.
Land Allotment and Temporary Office
Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) said the State government has given Cognizant 22.19 acres of land at a low lease rate of ₹0.99 per acre.
The land comes from the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and covers six survey numbers (394 to 397) near VMRDA’s Haritha Housing Complex at Kapuluppada. It includes two plots — 12.37 acres and 6.10 acres — combined into one area for the project.

To begin hiring and keep business activity moving before the first phase of the campus is ready, Cognizant will start operations from a rented plug-and-play office with 800–1,000 seats at Mahathi Bhavan on Hill No. 2, Rushikonda.
The company already has a strong presence in key Indian cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Pune, and Kolkata. The new Visakhapatnam center will add to its reach in India.
Impact on Vizag’s IT Sector and Local Talent
Industry leaders see this move as strong support for Visakhapatnam’s rise in the IT field. Andhra Pradesh Digital Technology Industry (APDTI) Network Chairperson Sreedhar Kosaraju said Cognizant’s entry will draw experienced digital and IT professionals to the city and help speed up job growth and new ideas.
To support this growth, the Andhra Pradesh government’s new IT policy offers an incentive of ₹1 lakh per year for three years to encourage professionals to move to the State.
Kosaraju said that large global investments, along with supportive government policies, will help make Visakhapatnam a preferred choice for IT workers and tech companies in the coming years.
