Nasscom & IBM to train 87,000 youth for future-ready digital skills

On Wednesday, Nasscom Foundation announced a strategic partnership with IBM to upskill more than 87,000 marginalised youth across India.
This collaboration will leverage the IBM SkillsBuild programme to deliver future-ready digital skills aimed at bridging the digital divide.
By focusing on underserved communities, the initiative strives to equip young learners with market-relevant knowledge that aligns closely with current industry needs.
Comprehensive Training in Emerging Technologies
The programme provides free access to digital courses covering key emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud computing, and data analytics, alongside professional development modules.
Beyond just self-paced learning, the initiative offers mentorship and guided experiences designed to build both technical proficiency and professional confidence.
This hands-on approach ensures participants acquire practical skills and career-readiness, enabling them to effectively compete in today’s fast-evolving job market.
Hybrid Model Aligned with Global Skill Development Goals
Implemented through a hybrid delivery model, the project combines direct engagement with universities and partnerships with on-ground skilling organisations specialising in emerging technologies.
Importantly, this initiative also supports IBM’s global commitment to skill 30 million people by 2030.
Nasscom Foundation CEO Jyoti Sharma emphasised the shared vision behind the partnership, stating it aims to create a digitally fluent generation by blending IBM’s global expertise with Nasscom’s community-driven mission.
By providing young people, especially from underserved groups, with future-ready skills and career exposure, the programme seeks to unlock transformative livelihood opportunities that will strengthen India’s digital workforce.
