In a move that stands as a sharp “narrative violation” to the current trend of tech sector downsizing, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has announced that the company is actively hiring 1,000 new graduates and interns.

This recruitment drive is specifically designed to bolster the company’s workforce as it accelerates into the “AI exponential” era.

Salesforce Fueling the Agentforce Revolution

The new cohort of talent will focus heavily on Salesforce’s latest AI innovations, specifically Agentforce and Headless360.

Agentforce represents a major pivot for the CRM giant, shifting from simple chatbots to autonomous AI agents capable of handling complex customer service, sales, and marketing tasks without human supervision.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Benioff challenged the prevailing fear that artificial intelligence will eliminate entry-level roles.

“You are right, they said AI would kill entry-level jobs. Meanwhile, these grads and interns are building it,” Benioff stated.

He emphasized that younger talent is uniquely positioned to adapt to and build the future of agentic workflows.

A Strategic Talent Refresh

This hiring spree follows a period of consolidation for Salesforce, which reduced its workforce by roughly 10% in 2023.

However, with the successful launch of Agentforce and record-breaking demand for AI-integrated CRM tools, the company is now back in growth mode.

The current initiative is part of the Futureforce program, Salesforce’s dedicated university recruiting arm that targets top-tier engineering and product talent globally.

Investing in the AI Skills Gap

Beyond just hiring, Salesforce is investing $50 million into upskilling initiatives to address the growing AI skills gap.

This includes free training through its Trailhead platform and a dedicated AI center at its San Francisco headquarters.

By bringing in 1,000 “digital natives,” Salesforce aims to create a workforce that doesn’t just use AI, but actively evolves the platform’s reasoning and decision-making capabilities.
