Polycab India Appoints Swapnakant Samal as Head– Talent Acquisition

Polycab India Limited has appointed Swapnakant Samal as Vice President – Human Resources (Head – Talent Acquisition), starting February 2026.

In this role, Samal will oversee hiring across the company, with a clear focus on senior roles, workforce planning, and improving hiring systems to support business growth. At Polycab, he is expected to build reliable talent systems over time and improve the company’s image as an employer.

Extensive Experience

Samal has more than 25 years of HR leadership experience across hiring, HR planning, policy work, process digitization, and large workforce programs. Before joining Polycab, he was Head – Talent and Organization Processes at Waaree Group, where he helped align hiring plans with major business change programs.

Earlier, Samal spent close to nine years at Reliance Industries Limited, handling two key roles within the Talent Acquisition Group. He led hiring for corporate functions in the hydrocarbon business and managed recruiting policies, process controls, digital systems, compliance, budgets, and audits. His work included linking hiring with talent management and rolling out modern applicant tracking systems to improve the candidate experience.

Before that, Samal held senior HR roles at Khaitan & Co, Shinsei Asset Management India, JM Financial Asset Management, i-flex solutions (Oracle group), and Heinz India. In these roles, he managed HR operations across locations, senior-level hiring, and large campus programs.

Samal is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad with an MBA in Human Resources. He also holds a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
