The Sleep Company has announced the appointment of Udhaya Shankar M as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

With a career spanning over 17 years, Udhaya joins the Bengaluru-based “comfort-tech” pioneer during a phase of rapid nationwide expansion and record-breaking revenue growth.

A Seasoned Leader for a Scaling Giant

Udhaya Shankar M brings a wealth of experience from the retail and consumer sectors, having most recently served as Head of HR Operations at Metro Brands Ltd.

His background includes a long tenure at the Landmark Group along with early-career experience at Vodafone.

As CHRO, Udhaya is now tasked with overseeing the company’s entire people and culture agenda.

His mandate focuses on positioning The Sleep Company as a top destination for retail and tech talent while developing internal leadership pipelines and upskilling programs to ensure the workforce remains future-ready.

Strategic Timing and The Sleep Company Business Growth

The appointment comes at a critical juncture as the company manages a massive workforce that has grown from 650 to more than 1,500 employees in a little over a year.

The Sleep Company currently maintains a strong revenue run rate and has recently secured significant funding to fuel its growth.

Priyanka Salot, Co-founder of The Sleep Company, noted that Udhaya is a seasoned leader who has successfully spearheaded people practices at large-scale organizations.

She emphasized that his execution-focused approach and expertise in technology-enabled HR solutions will be vital for the company.

These skills are particularly important as the brand targets ₹1,000 crore in revenue.

Focus on Omnichannel Excellence

Beyond corporate strategy, Udhaya will be responsible for streamlining the employee experience across the company’s diverse ecosystem.

This network includes corporate offices, warehouses, and over 150 retail stores.

Since physical outlets drive a majority of revenue through a unique strategy, he plays a pivotal role in maintaining culture and operational consistency.

The company aims to expand its footprint to 50 cities and enter new comfort categories beyond mattresses and ergonomic chairs.

Consequently, Udhaya’s leadership will be central to building an inclusive and performance-driven culture.
