Hyundai and TVS Join Forces to Boost EV Infrastructure and Hiring

Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company have signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to co-develop and commercialize electric three-wheelers (E3W).
This partnership, finalized in April 2026, will go beyond vehicle manufacturing.
It will act as a significant catalyst for employment generation and technical upskilling across the nation’s automotive supply chain.
Synergy of Global Design and Local Engineering
The collaboration leverages Hyundai’s global R&D and human-centric design expertise alongside TVS Motor’s established electric three-wheeler platform and deep local market insights.
Under the agreement, Hyundai will lead the vehicle design, while TVS will spearhead the manufacturing and domestic sales.
A central pillar of this JDA is a commitment to heavy localization.
By sourcing and manufacturing major components within India, the companies aim to reduce costs and strengthen the domestic ecosystem.
Industry experts suggest this focus on “Make in India” will create thousands of new roles in specialized manufacturing, electrical engineering, and quality assurance.

Hyundai and TVS Partnership: Fueling the Next Wave of EV Jobs
The expansion into electric last-mile mobility is expected to trigger a surge in both direct and indirect employment.
Key growth areas include:
- Localized Component Manufacturing: Demand for battery assembly, powertrain components, and thermal management systems will boost factory floor roles.
- Infrastructure & Maintenance: The rollout of these vehicles will require a vast network of skilled technicians for specialized EV servicing and charging station operations.
- Digital & AI Integration: There is an increasing demand for software developers to manage fleet telematics and AI-driven route optimization. This growth is driven by a focus on “smart” last-mile solutions.
A Future-Ready Workforce
This partnership follows the successful showcase of the E3W concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
The production-ready vehicles will feature adaptive ground clearance and enhanced thermal management specifically for Indian climates.
To support this, both companies are expected to invest in extensive vocational training programs.
These initiatives will equip the local workforce with high-tech skills for the “electric transition.”
