PM Internship Scheme 2026: Govt Issues New Guidelines, Stipend Details

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has shared clear rules for the PM Internship Scheme 2026. The plan sets up a national system to give young people paid internship chances in companies across India. It also makes sure the application process is simple and fully online.
Scheme Overview
The PM Internship Scheme aims to help young people get real work experience. Internships will last between six and nine months. At least half of this time will be spent in actual workplace settings.
Interns will not be treated as company employees. The scheme will run separately from other government training programs.
Candidates will apply through an online portal where they can view and choose roles. Those selected will receive financial support during the internship. The goal is to help bridge the gap between education and job skills.

Eligibility and Benefits

Students from top institutes like IITs and IIMs are not eligible. Also, candidates already in other government internship programs cannot apply at the same time.
Selected interns will receive:
- ₹9,000 per month
- One-time grant of ₹6,000
- Insurance cover for life and accidents
Interns will work with well-known private companies, gaining useful work experience.
Application Process
The process includes a few steps:
- Register on the official portal
- Fill out your profile and upload documents
- Browse available roles and apply
- Companies shortlist candidates based on skills
- Some roles may include interviews or tests
Selected candidates will get offer letters. Applications will stay open, so candidates can apply at different times.
Final Notes
Those who finish the internship will receive an official certificate. If someone leaves early, they may still get a participation record.
