HDFC Life Appoints Vijay Vaidyanathan as CHRO

HDFC Life has elevated Vijay Vaidyanathan as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective from April 1, 2026.

He has been associated with the company since June 2001. In his new role, he will lead HDFC Life’s people strategy, leadership development, and employee programs as the company continues to build its talent and workplace culture.

Extensive Experience

Based in Mumbai, Vaidyanathan takes on the new role after many senior roles in distribution, alliances, and sales at HDFC Life.

Most recently, he served as Group Head – Key Alliances (Bancassurance). In that role, he handled partnerships with major banks across India and worked to build long-term bancassurance partnerships. He also helped improve results for partner teams and supported the growth of leaders within the company.

From 2013 to 2022, he held senior roles in bancassurance and managed several national partnerships. He also led large teams across the country, with focus on strong operations, partner relations, and support for new leaders in alliance teams.

Earlier in his career, he helped shape the company’s retail distribution plan and supported the launch of the High Net Worth Individual (HNI) sales vertical. He worked with product, underwriting, and operations teams to improve processes for customers and partners.

Vaidyanathan joined HDFC Life in 2001 and holds a PGDBA in Finance and Marketing.
