Tata Projects Appoints Shirley Burla as Chief Human Resources Officer

Tata Projects, an engineering, procurement, and construction firm under the Tata Group, has elevated Shirley Burla to the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

She takes on this role after serving as Vice President and Head of HR for the Energy and Industrial Business since June 2023.

As CHRO, Shirley will oversee the company’s HR strategy, talent management, leadership development, and workforce planning. Her appointment comes as Tata Projects expands its work across infrastructure, energy, and industrial sectors, creating a need for strong people leadership to support growth and performance.

Extensive Experience and Background

Shirley brings more than 25 years of experience in HR leadership, hiring, corporate communications, and learning and development. Before joining Tata Projects, she worked with the Shapoorji Pallonji Group as Head of Learning and Organizational Development and Corporate HR. She also served as Head of HR for SP EPC.

Earlier in her career, she spent over 13 years at Siemens Ltd., where she held roles including Head of HR Business Partner for the Building Technologies Division and Head of Talent Acquisition for South Asia. She also worked on consulting assignments with MSL (Global) and Genesis BCW.

Shirley holds an MSc in Physical Chemistry from Mithibai College and has completed the Strategic Leadership Development Program at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
