Uplers ropes in Welspun’s Dr. Deepa Mishra as Director – People & Culture

In her new role, she will strengthen the company’s leadership team, bringing extensive expertise in culture transformation, talent development, and organizational growth.
Extensive Experience
Dr. Mishra brings with her a rich and diverse professional journey spanning more than two decades. She joins Uplers after serving for seven years at Welspun World, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s talent and culture agenda.
In her most recent position as Group DGM – CoE Talent, Culture, and Employer Branding, she led several strategic initiatives that strengthened Welspun’s people practices and enhanced its reputation as a preferred employer.
Before her tenure at Welspun in 2016, she worked with the J M BAXI Group as a Human Resources Business Partner (Project), where she contributed to multiple HR transformation projects.
Her earlier professional experiences include meaningful roles at Vopak, Genus Electrotech Limited, and Population Services International, where she gained deeper insights into people development across varied sectors.
She also worked with Tolani Motwane Institute of Management Studies as an Associate Professor, adding an academic dimension to her understanding of HR and organizational behavior.
Academically, Dr. Deepa has pursued rigorous learning pathways. She completed executive education programs from MIT Sloan Executive Education and the SDA Bocconi Asia Center’s Future Leaders Program (2023–2024).
She holds a PhD in Social Work from Sardar Patel University, along with a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University, further enhancing her domain expertise.
