In a significant shift toward data-driven workforce management, KPMG has launched a specialized internal dashboard to track how its consultants utilize artificial intelligence.

Initially rolled out to the firm’s U.S. advisory division, the tool allows both employees and management to monitor AI adoption levels, marking a transition from experimental usage to measurable productivity.

KPMG Gamifying AI Adoption

The dashboard functions as a centralized performance tracker where consultants can see how often they engage with AI tools compared to their peers.

It provides visibility into individual usage patterns and measures those metrics against specific target goals set by the firm.

Beyond mere tracking, the firm has signaled that AI proficiency is no longer optional.

Reports indicate that KPMG plans to integrate AI usage data into its annual performance assessments, effectively making digital tool adoption a key factor in career progression and evaluations.

The Push for “Agentic” Efficiency

The move aligns with KPMG’s broader strategy to move toward a hybrid human-and-digital workforce.

By 2026, the firm aims to leverage “agentic AI”—autonomous systems capable of handling complex workflows—to enhance efficiency in high-stakes areas like audit, KYC (Know Your Customer), and regulatory checks.

Executives believe that this real-time monitoring fosters a culture of accountability and ensures that the massive investments in generative AI yield tangible returns.

Mixed Internal Sentiments

While the dashboard promotes transparency, it has reportedly created a high-pressure environment for some staff.

Some employees have expressed concerns that the system incentivizes quantity over quality, noting that the metrics can be easily manipulated to show high activity.

This internal tension surfaces shortly after the firm reduced its U.S. advisory headcount by 4% (approximately 400 roles), highlighting the growing link between AI-driven efficiency and workforce restructuring.
