Super Chennai, the prominent citizen-led movement dedicated to significantly elevating the city’s global identity, has announced a major leadership change.

Super Chennai appointed Karthik Nagappan as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective December 2, 2025.

This transition signals a pivot towards amplifying cultural storytelling, enhancing community participation, and driving global relevance as Chennai enters its next phase of rapid growth.

Super Chennai Leadership Shift Targets Cultural Storytelling

The organization, which views Chennai not just as a geographical location but as a vibrant collective of resilience, innovation, and creativity, aims to solidify civic pride on the world stage.

Ranjeeth Rathod, Managing Director of Super Chennai, expressed confidence in the new leader, stating, “Super Chennai was built on the idea of celebrating our people, culture, and progress.”

He added, “Karthik’s creative energy, strategic depth, and deep-rooted connection with Chennai align perfectly with our vision. I am confident he will spearhead new initiatives that reflect the city’s dynamism and pride.”

Bridging Finance, Brand, and Identity

Karthik brings a unique and highly relevant professional background to the civic movement.

He previously served as Assistant Vice President at Unifi Capital Pvt. Ltd., but his career also spans extensive experience in media, marketing, brand building, and urban identity campaigns.

His portfolio includes pivotal roles at media houses like The Times of India and The Hindu, where he was instrumental in creating widely recognized campaigns such as The Hindu’s ‘Made of Chennai’ and the viral ‘Namma Chennai Chance-ey Illa’ and ‘Happy Streets’ campaigns for The Times of India.

Commenting on his appointment, Karthik stated, “I’ve been privileged to tell stories that unite and inspire. Joining Super Chennai is a natural extension of that journey. I look forward to amplifying the city’s voice globally and shaping its next chapter with our community.”

Super Chennai’s Mandate for a Future-Ready City

CREDAI Chennai launched Super Chennai as a not-for-profit initiative.

Unveiled by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in February 2025, the movement focuses on showcasing the city’s strengths across key sectors, including technology (SaaS), manufacturing, medical innovation, culture, and safety.

The initiative emphasizes a digital-first platform to facilitate real-time updates, events, and volunteer engagement, inviting all residents to contribute.

This leadership transition marks a defining chapter, aimed at championing a Chennai that is future-ready, inclusive, and globally confident.
