BharatPe, a prominent leader in India’s digital financial services landscape, has announced a significant leadership move to solidify its presence in the offline payments market.

The company has appointed industry veteran Himanshu Verma as the Head of its Point-of-Sale (POS) Business.

By integrating payment terminals with its existing suite of financial products—including merchant loans facilitated through BharatPe Money—the company is positioning itself as a comprehensive financial partner for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India.

Himanshu expressed that his focus will remain on driving sustainable growth and delivering tangible value to merchants as digital adoption deepens across the country.

A Veteran Leader for a High-Growth Vertical

Himanshu Verma brings over twenty years of extensive experience in channel sales, distribution, and Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies.

His career is marked by high-impact roles at some of India’s most successful telecom and fintech firms.

These include Bharti Airtel, Samsung India, Vodafone, and most recently, Pine Labs.

At Pine Labs, Himanshu served as Senior Director & National Business Head for the “Mini Soundbox” business, where he successfully led the nationwide scale-up of the product.

His deep expertise in UPI payments, merchant acquisition, and Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems is extensive.

This knowledge makes him a pivotal addition to the BharatPe leadership team.

In his new role, Himanshu will be responsible for leading the POS business, focusing on strengthening the distribution network and scaling the company’s offline ecosystem.

BharatPe Scaling the Offline Ecosystem

BharatPe’s POS business is already a significant contributor to its operations. It processes over ₹27,000 crores annually through a network of more than 125,000 machines.

By bringing in Himanshu, the company aims to move beyond simple payment acceptance to a more integrated merchant-first approach.

Nalin Negi, CEO of BharatPe, emphasized that offline payments have become a critical lever of growth.

He noted that Himanshu’s track record in disciplined execution will be essential.

This expertise will support the firm as it expands its merchant footprint into newer cities and categories.

Currently, BharatPe serves over 1.7 crore merchants across 450+ cities, facilitating roughly 450 million UPI transactions monthly.
