The platform is built on the company’s Cognizant Intelligence Spine, which connects different physical systems including industrial sensors, IoT devices, automation equipment, and AI applications into a single platform. The goal is to help organizations manage and scale AI-powered operations more effectively.
Bringing AI into Physical Operations
Physical AI combines technologies such as computer vision, sensors, positioning systems, and real-time communication to enable machines and systems to make decisions and perform tasks in the physical world.

Speaking about the launch, Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said that advances in AI, sensors, and communication technologies are creating new opportunities for businesses to move beyond pilot projects and use autonomous systems in day-to-day operations.
According to Cognizant’s New Work, New World 2026 study, AI use in physical work environments is growing rapidly. The report found that AI exposure in transportation increased from 6% to 25%, while construction saw an increase from 4% to 12%. The study suggests that AI is becoming an important part of operational processes across industries.
Intelligence Spine at the Core
Cognizant said one of the biggest challenges for companies today is connecting different AI models, machines, and data sources.

The Intelligence Spine is designed to address this challenge by providing a common platform that links physical assets such as sensors, cameras, robots, and digital twins with AI systems that analyze information and support decision-making.
The company said the platform allows enterprises to maintain ownership and governance of their operational data and AI systems while improving coordination across different business functions.
Focus on Multiple Industries
The new platform will support organizations across eight major sectors, including utilities, oil and gas, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, aerospace and defense, healthcare and life sciences, and consumer goods.
Some expected use cases include predictive maintenance, autonomous inspections, warehouse automation, supply chain monitoring, energy management, and clinical operations. Through this launch, Cognizant aims to help enterprises adopt Physical AI at scale and improve efficiency across their operations.
