Shree Cement Limited Appoints Rachana Sharma as Head-Environment

Shree Cement Limited, a top-tier Indian cement manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Rachana Sharma as its new Head of Environment.
This strategic leadership addition aligns with the company’s aggressive roadmap.
It aims to integrate environmental stewardship and decarbonization into the core growth strategy.
Rachana joins Shree Cement with over 20 years of specialized experience in environmental management and sustainability.
Her career spans across the cement and large-scale infrastructure sectors.
In these fields, she has been instrumental in leading regulatory compliance and sustainability programs.
Most recently, she served as the Head of Environment at JSW Cement.
In this role, she played a key role in advancing their sustainability-led initiatives and governance frameworks.
Strategic Importance Amidst Rapid Expansion
The appointment comes at a critical time as Shree Cement scales its production capacity toward a mid-term goal of 80 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2029.
Managing Director Neeraj Akhoury highlighted that as the company sharpens its focus on resource efficiency and environmental stewardship, this role assumes “significant strategic importance.”
“Rachana’s strong domain expertise and proven leadership in environmental governance will meaningfully advance our vision of responsible manufacturing,” Neeraj stated.
The company is currently prioritizing decarbonization and the use of alternative fuels. Over 85% of its output already comes from blended cements.
A Vision for Responsible Manufacturing at Shree Cement Limited
In her new role, Rachana will focus on strengthening environmental management systems.
She will also enhance compliance frameworks across Shree Cement’s diverse operations in India and the UAE.
Commenting on her appointment, she expressed excitement about joining the company during a “pivotal phase” where operational excellence and sustainability are closely aligned.
Shree Cement has recently made significant strides in green energy.
The company commissioned a 22 MW waste heat recovery system at its Jaitaran facility and a 20 MWp solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
By bringing in seasoned leadership like Rachana, the company aims to ensure that its massive capacity expansions remain consistent with its industry-leading green credentials.
These expansions include new units in Maharashtra and Karnataka that align with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals.
