The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has restored its Member Passbook portal after completing a scheduled maintenance and technology upgrade, enabling millions of subscribers to access their provident fund account statements once again.

The portal had been unavailable since late June as EPFO carried out a major database consolidation and software migration aimed at improving system performance, security and service reliability.
Members can now log in to view their passbooks, although the portal currently displays a notice stating that only transactions for recently processed accounting years are available.
According to the notice, transactions relating to earlier accounting years are still being migrated and will be reflected over the next few days. EPFO said the migration is an automated process and members are not required to take any action.
Technology Upgrade to Improve Services

The migration, which began on June 26, is part of EPFO’s broader digital modernisation initiative to enhance processing efficiency, strengthen cybersecurity and improve the overall user experience.
While member and employer services have largely resumed, EPFO has cautioned that provident fund claims and certain online service requests may continue to face delays over the next two weeks due to additional verification and validation checks.
8.25% Interest Credit From July 15
The restoration of the portal comes just ahead of the expected credit of 8.25% annual interest for FY2025-26, which EPFO is likely to begin depositing into subscribers’ accounts from July 15.

UAN Activation Process Updated
EPFO has also revised the Universal Account Number (UAN) activation process. Members can no longer activate their UAN through the Unified Member Portal.
Instead, activation must now be completed using the UMANG mobile application with Aadhaar-based Face Authentication Technology (FAT).
How to Check Your PF Balance
Members can check their PF balance through the EPFO Member Passbook portal, the UMANG app, or by giving a missed call to 9966044425 from their registered mobile number.
