Tata Steel Wage Revision Faces Employee Objections, Anomalies Panel Formed

Concerns over Tata Steel wage revision agreement have intensified, with employees raising objections through the Tata Workers’ Union. A joint Anomalies Committee formed by the company and the union is now examining the issues, as employees have been given time until August 31 to submit their concerns.

HR Officials Visit Tata Workers’ Union Office

Tata Steel HR officials visited the Tata Workers’ Union office amid concerns and objections raised by employees and the union over the company’s wage revision agreement.

The visit followed the formation of a joint Anomalies Committee comprising representatives of Tata Steel management and the union. Officials associated with the committee visited the union office to understand the concerns being raised by employees across different departments. Union office bearers were also present during the interaction.

Several complaints related to the wage revision have reportedly reached the union from employees across departments. Employees have been given time until August 31 to submit their objections. The issues will subsequently be examined by the Anomalies Committee.

According to the process being followed, concerns that can be resolved will be addressed, while objections that cannot be resolved are expected to be rejected.

Committee Meeting Scheduled for August 31

A meeting of the Tata Workers’ Union committee has also been scheduled for August 31. The agenda includes paying tribute to deceased members, approving the minutes of the previous meeting and passing the accounts for the past four months.

However, some opposition has emerged over the absence of an opportunity for committee members to raise other issues during the meeting. The circular announcing the meeting was issued under the signature of General Secretary Satish Singh.

Former Tata Workers’ Union Deputy President Arvind Pandey has raised an objection to the agenda. He said employees and committee members were dealing with concerns over the wage revision and questioned why the matter had not been included in the agenda, particularly as the meeting was being held after a considerable gap.

Pandey has urged Union President Sanjeev Chaudhary Tunnu to reconsider the decision and allow other issues to be taken up during the meeting.

Union President Meets Former Deputy President

Meanwhile, Tata Workers’ Union President Sanjeev Chaudhary Tunnu visited Pandey at his residence in Bistupur to enquire about his health.

Pandey recently sustained injuries after falling in the bathroom at his residence. Doctors have reportedly advised him to take two months of bed rest.

Pandey described Tunnu’s visit as a reflection of their personal relationship. Tunnu also said the meeting had no political significance and that his relationship with Pandey was personal.

The wage revision agreement continues to remain a key concern among sections of the Tata Steel workforce. With employees allowed to submit objections until August 31, the Anomalies Committee’s review is expected to determine which issues can be addressed and which objections will not be taken forward.
