The move is expected to reduce prolonged litigation, encourage voluntary compliance, and simplify the resolution of legacy provident fund disputes.

- Six-month application window for employers to avail the benefits.

Who Can Apply?
The scheme is designed for employers with pending or disputed PF damages cases that meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Establishments opting for the scheme can seek settlement of eligible disputes within the notified six-month period.
However, employers will still be required to pay the actual PF dues and applicable interest. The relief under VISHWAS 2026 is limited to damages, and certain categories of cases—such as those involving serious fraud or prosecution—are excluded from its ambit.
Separate Amnesty Scheme for Exempted PF Trusts

In addition to VISHWAS 2026, EPFO has also introduced an Amnesty Scheme 2026 for exempted provident fund trusts.
The initiative enables eligible trusts to regularise compliance following the migration to EPFO’s revamped digital platform, supporting smoother administration and regulatory alignment.
Why It Matters
The introduction of VISHWAS 2026 marks another step in EPFO’s ongoing efforts to modernise compliance mechanisms and resolve legacy disputes through voluntary settlement.
For employers, the scheme presents an opportunity to close long-pending PF damages cases with reduced financial burden while strengthening statutory compliance.
As organisations continue to focus on governance and compliance, the initiative is expected to benefit both employers and the EPFO by reducing pending cases and improving overall regulatory efficiency.
