Infosys CEO Reveals How Big AI Could Become for the Company

Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh has said that artificial intelligence (AI) services could account for nearly half of the company’s work within the next two to three years, as demand for AI-related services continues to grow.

Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026 in New Delhi on October 13, Parekh said AI services could account for 20–30% of the company’s work within a few quarters if the current growth rate continues.

According to reports, Infosys’ AI services accounted for more than 8% of its revenue in the previous quarter and were growing at a double-digit rate sequentially.

AI Services Expand Across Client Projects

Infosys’ AI services include developing AI agents, using AI in software coding, modernising older technology systems and helping clients manage technology-related changes.

Parekh said demand for these services was growing rapidly. He also described the trend as positive for Infosys and the wider Indian IT services industry.

The company’s projections indicate that AI-related work could become a much larger part of its business over the coming years. However, the estimate is a forward-looking projection and depends on the pace of demand and adoption.

The nearly 50% projection refers to the share of the company’s work, not its revenue.

Infosys Plans to Train Graduates in AI

Parekh said Infosys hired 20,000 college graduates in the previous financial year and planned to hire another 20,000 in the current financial year.

The company is training graduates in AI before deploying them on client projects involving technology implementation and change management.

He also said approximately 80,000 employees out of Infosys’ workforce of around 3 lakh were already working with coding tools for client projects and some internal activities.

The figures point to the growing importance of AI skills within the IT services sector.

As companies expand their AI-related work, training employees in AI tools, software development and technology implementation is likely to remain an important area of focus.

Final Comments

Infosys expects AI services to account for a significantly larger share of its work over the next two to three years. The projection highlights the growing role of AI in IT services and the importance of employee training.

However, the company’s estimate should not be interpreted as a forecast of revenue contribution or employment growth.
