The projects, awarded by leading public and private sector enterprises, span iron ore handling, steel plant expansion, and zinc processing facilities.
Major Projects Across Chhattisgarh and West Bengal
One of the key contracts involves the construction of an 18 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) iron ore handling plant in Chhattisgarh for India’s largest public sector iron ore producer. The project forms part of the miner’s long-term strategy to expand its iron ore production capacity to 100 MTPA by 2030.

Under the EPC contract, L&T will undertake the complete design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of critical infrastructure, including a downhill conveyor system, screening plant, stockyard facilities, Rapid Wagon Loading System (RWLS), and associated auxiliary systems.
In another major win, L&T has secured multiple contracts from a public sector Navratna company for the expansion of its integrated steel plant in West Bengal. The project will increase the plant’s production capacity from 2.5 MTPA to 7.1 MTPA, with L&T executing several design-and-build and balance-of-plant packages.
Additionally, the company has won an EPC contract from a leading private-sector metals producer to establish a zinc processing plant, covering design, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning, and site services.
Significant Employment and Supply Chain Opportunities
While L&T has not disclosed the number of jobs these projects will create, large-scale EPC contracts of this size are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases.

The projects are likely to create demand for engineers, project managers, civil and mechanical workers, welders, electricians, equipment operators, logistics professionals, and safety specialists.
Beyond direct employment, the contracts are expected to benefit a broad ecosystem of contractors, MSMEs, equipment manufacturers, transport providers, and material suppliers, supporting thousands of indirect jobs across the value chain.
The expansion of mining and steel infrastructure could also stimulate long-term employment in mineral processing, manufacturing, and ancillary industries in states such as Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
Commenting on the order wins, L&T Chairman and Managing Director S. N. Subrahmanyan said the contracts reaffirm the company’s leadership in the minerals and metals EPC sector and reflect customers’ confidence in its ability to execute projects of exceptional scale and complexity.
He added that as India accelerates investments to expand its metals and minerals capacity, L&T remains committed to building world-class industrial infrastructure that supports the country’s long-term economic growth.
