TCS Wins Best Buy India GCC Mandate, Beats Accenture

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has won a five-year technology services mandate for Best Buy’s India global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, beating Accenture in the final stage of the selection process, according to people familiar with the matter cited by The Times of India.

Best Buy had issued a request for proposal (RFP) for technology services covering its India GCC operations.

TCS reportedly secured the mandate based on competitive pricing, service-level agreements (SLAs) and productivity benefits. Wipro was also reportedly part of the initial shortlist.

Five-Year Deal Covers Technology Services

Best Buy’s Bengaluru-based India GCC has around 600 employees. The five-year engagement covers the GCC operations and a wider technology services portfolio, including data, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).

The deal is estimated to be worth around ₹2,000 crore, according to people familiar with the matter. However, the amount has not been publicly confirmed by TCS, Best Buy, Accenture or Wipro. The Times of India reported that the companies had not responded to its requests for comments at the time of publication.

The mandate builds on TCS’s existing relationship with Best Buy, which includes technology services and digital transformation work. HFS Research CEO Phil Fersht told The Times of India that the existing relationship could generate $75 million–$100 million in annual revenue, while noting that there is no publicly disclosed contract value.

Best Buy’s Bengaluru Technology Centre

Best Buy established its Bengaluru technology centre in 2024. The centre was planned to cover areas such as digital strategy, product management, design, engineering, infrastructure and operations.

The company has also been expanding its technology workforce in India. In August 2025, Reuters reported that Best Buy planned to increase its Bengaluru technology centre workforce from around 350 employees to 500–550, with hiring in areas including AI engineering, software development and product management.

For the HR and GCC sector, the latest development is relevant because the mandate covers an existing India GCC with around 600 employees and a wider technology services scope. However, no public details are currently available on any changes to employee employment arrangements following the mandate.

The deal also shows the competition among major IT services companies for large GCC and technology services engagements in India, with TCS, Accenture and Wipro reportedly involved at different stages of Best Buy’s selection process.
