How iSkill Works
Wipro’s AI Academy was built three years ago to help more than 240,000 associates become AI-ready. It offers 144 persona-based learning paths and hundreds of AI and cloud courses from thousands of partner platforms.
The company said employees earlier had several learning options but often found it difficult to decide where to begin. iSkill was developed from December 2025 to help employees identify courses that match their existing skills and roles.
Key figures from Wipro include:

- 240,000+ associates covered by the AI Academy.
- 144 persona-based learning paths available through the Academy.
- 7,500+ conversations recorded by iSkill since its launch.
- 100+ active unique learners recorded by the platform.
iSkill works through Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Teams. After an employee signs in using their Wipro Teams identity, the system uses information such as role, band, function, skills and completed AI and cloud certifications to recommend relevant courses.
Focus on Role-Based Learning
The recommendations are supported by a Power BI semantic model, while iSkill searches Wipro’s SharePoint-hosted Academy catalogue for courses. Wipro said access is restricted through a validated security group, with role-based controls designed to prevent managers from viewing individual employee data.

Surya Prakash Mohapatra, General Manager and AI Learning Head – Talent Skilling at Wipro, said the earlier learning experience depended on employees searching for courses and reading course descriptions, which made it difficult for some employees to know where to start.
Wipro also reported that 96% of AI Advanced+ courses at the Academy were completed between January 2025 and March 2026. The company said the role-based recommendations are intended to help its learning and development function connect employee learning more closely with business requirements.
For HR teams, the development is relevant because it puts role and skill information directly into the employee learning process. Rather than relying only on employees to search a large course catalogue, iSkill is designed to suggest courses based on what they already know and the skills associated with their roles.
