HCLTech to Open Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar, Create 5,000 Jobs

HCLTech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish a Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar.

The new facility will focus on developing and delivering AI-led digital solutions for global enterprises and will strengthen the company’s presence in eastern India.

The Technology Center will complement HCLTech’s proposed AI Data Center at the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park.

The company expects the center to begin operations by 2028 and employ around 5,000 professionals.

Focus on AI Innovation and Talent Development

The investment is expected to create both direct and indirect employment opportunities while supporting the growth of Odisha’s technology ecosystem.

HCLTech also plans to work closely with local educational institutions and the state government to develop next-generation digital skills through structured training and talent development initiatives.

Rahul Singh, COO – Corporate Functions, HCLTech, said the expansion is part of the company’s New Vistas initiative, which aims to bring technology opportunities closer to emerging talent hubs across India.

“Odisha offers a great mix of quality infrastructure and vibrant talent pool, and we look forward to developing Bhubaneswar as one of our key global innovation and delivery hubs,” he said.

Odisha Strengthens Its Technology Ecosystem

Welcoming the investment, Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha, said HCLTech’s decision further enhances Bhubaneswar’s position as one of India’s emerging technology destinations.

“We welcome HCLTech’s decision to establish their footprint in Odisha. Their presence will further embellish Bhubaneswar’s status as one of India’s most promising technology hubs,” he said.

HCLTech currently employs more than 170,000 people across its technology campuses and delivery centers in India, including Noida, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Nagpur, Madurai, Vijayawada and GIFT City.

The upcoming Bhubaneswar center is expected to strengthen the company’s nationwide delivery network while contributing to Odisha’s vision of becoming a major hub for AI and digital innovation.
