TCS Launches Industrial AI Platform, Targets 25% Faster Product Development

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched the Industrial Intelligence Foundry, an artificial intelligence (AI) offering designed to help manufacturing and engineering companies deploy AI across their operations. The company expects the platform to reduce new product introduction timelines by 25% and improve manufacturing productivity by 20–25%.

Announced on October 15, 2026, the offering brings together configurable AI agents, workflows and governance capabilities to help industrial enterprises move from AI experiments to wider deployment across their business operations.

The platform is designed to integrate industry-specific AI applications into existing workflows, reducing the need for companies to build AI agents from scratch for specialised industrial tasks.

AI Applications Across Manufacturing and Engineering

TCS said the Industrial Intelligence Foundry will support companies across sectors such as aerospace, mobility, semiconductors, medical devices, industrial electronics, utilities and energy.

The platform covers several areas of industrial operations:

  • Product development: AI applications for product design, validation, documentation and reducing new product introduction timelines.
  • Manufacturing operations: AI-driven insights and workflow coordination to improve production performance.
  • Asset performance: Applications to improve equipment reliability, utilisation and operational efficiency.
  • Quality and compliance: Context-based recommendations, continuous monitoring and governance capabilities.
  • Workforce support: AI-assisted decision-making across engineering, manufacturing and field operations.

The offering combines industry-specific AI applications with agentic AI and multi-agent workflow orchestration. Its model-agnostic architecture is designed to support different AI ecosystems, allowing enterprises to integrate AI capabilities into their existing operations.

TCS also said productivity gains could exceed 40% as companies develop their data foundations and operating ecosystems. These figures are projections shared by the company; it has not disclosed customer case studies demonstrating the stated gains from the new offering.

TCS Expands Its Industrial AI Focus

Sreenivasa Chakravarti, Global Head and Vice President of Industrial Autonomy and Engineering at TCS, said the next phase of industrial AI would depend on how effectively AI agents are coordinated across engineering, plant systems and asset operations.

The launch follows TCS’ continued expansion in AI services. In its second quarter of FY27, the company reported an annualised AI revenue run rate of US$3.1 billion, accounting for more than 10% of its total revenue.

TCS has also been investing in industrial AI capabilities. In September 2026, it launched a Lights-Out Factory lab at its Pune campus to demonstrate how AI, robotics, digital twins and factory systems can support manufacturing operations with minimal human intervention.

Final Comments

The Industrial Intelligence Foundry reflects TCS’ focus on applying AI to manufacturing and engineering, beyond conventional office-based applications.

The platform’s business impact will depend on how effectively companies integrate these tools into existing operations and achieve measurable improvements in productivity, product development and quality.
